Our free veterans’ at-home programs, virtual communities and in-person expeditions and outdoor programs serve as both an opportunity for growth and a catalyst for change as these brave men and women stretch physical and emotional boundaries, foster camaraderie, pioneer through adversity, and step up to serve others. The Crisis According to the 2014 Census, more than 3.8 million of the 19.3 million veterans in the U.S. are coping with a service-connected disability. Due to the improvements in battlefield medical treatment, they return alive, yet not whole. Upon separation from the military, many veterans feel disconnected and alone, experiencing a loss of purpose, identity, and community as they try to reestablish themselves in their civilian communities. Our Solution Our programs for veterans permanently impact them by helping them tackle personal challenges. Mountains serve as both metaphor and training ground for setting personal goals and building world-class teams. Through the experience, we provide veterans with connection and support systems they can depend on. “This program and its leaders made me realize that it’s important to step outside of my comfort zone more often. This program has helped me accept the help of others and be able to ask for assistance.” At-Home Expeditions Our Veterans need a Rope Team to carry them through their challenges and our at-home expeditions provide that team. Way better than an “online course”, our at-home month long expedition kits lead veterans on a personal and team journey, guided by expert facilitators, to rediscover purpose, identity and community. Veterans commit to the 30 day at-home expedition, completing activities weekly on their own and then with a team that is facilitated virtually on Zoom. Vets have the option to attend live guest speakers that provide insights into leading with purpose despite the adversities in our way. We make this fun and meaningful. All vets gain access to our capstone online course content as well. Upon completion, alumni of the course are welcomed into our virtual veteran community with monthly events, mini-course and challenges to keep vets engaged at their own pace and desire. Our In-Person Expeditions Our veterans outdoor programs have taken our teams to breathtaking sites all over the world, tackling adventures like: Trekking through the iconic mountains of Ecuador, Nepal, the Colorado Rockies, and Wyoming’s Wind River Range Skiing through arctic conditions to reach the South Pole Rock climbing at the classic, towering cliffs of the Shawangunk Mountains Trekking across the Presidential Traverse of the White Mountains Rafting and sleeping under the stars in the majestic Grand Canyon, AZ, and Salmon River, ID The best part? All programs and expeditions are free for veterans.
